More university graduates/ The number of managers, lawyers and engineers continues to increase

The education system in Albania has produced approximately 82,600 graduates at all levels of education during the 2024-2025 academic year. Data published by the Institute of Statistics show that pupils and students from 9-year education, secondary education and higher education have completed their studies, while a slight decrease in graduations in pre-university education is noted compared to the previous year.
According to statistics, 33.5% of graduates belong to 9-year education, 31.4% to secondary education and about 35% to higher education. In total, graduations in pre-university education have decreased by 1.5% compared to the previous year, reflecting demographic changes and movements in the education system.
In 9-year education, the majority of graduates are male, who constitute 52.1% of the total. Also, the vast majority of students graduated from public educational institutions, with 89.3% of the total, which shows that the public system continues to hold the main weight of basic education in the country.
A decline was also recorded in secondary education, where the number of graduates decreased by 3% compared to the previous year. At this educational level, girls make up the majority of graduates with 51%. Meanwhile, vocational education accounts for 12.3% of total secondary education graduations, where males dominate with 84.3% of graduates. This shows that boys continue to be more oriented towards professional and technical branches.
On the other hand, higher education has seen growth. During the 2024-2025 academic year, approximately 28,900 students graduated, or 2.6% more than the previous year. The figures show a continued interest in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Over half of the students, specifically 50.6%, have graduated from Bachelor's programs, while 43.4% have completed Master's programs. Women also dominate in higher education, as 65.3% of graduates are girls and women. The majority of students, about 66.6%, have completed their studies at public universities.
As for the most preferred majors, the field of “Business, Administration and Law” remains the main choice of Albanian students, where 23.3% of the total number of students graduated. In second place is the field of “Health and Welfare” with 22.4%, while “Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction” accounts for 14% of higher education graduations.
The data shows that, despite the slight decline in pre-university levels, universities in Albania continue to produce a high number of graduates, with a strong trend towards business, health and engineering fields.
