Operational plan for fire prevention/ Lamallari: Review of ranks and financial treatment for firefighters

The Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, stated today that an operational plan of measures has been drafted for the prevention and protection from fires during the summer season, at a time when, according to him, an increase in fire cases is being observed, including deliberate arson.
Lamallari emphasized that the plan was prepared by the Ministry of Interior, where the Fire Protection and Rescue Service has the main role, in full coordination with the National Civil Protection Agency and local authorities.
According to him, the focus of the operational plan remains the prevention of fire incidents, increasing operational readiness, strengthening response chains, and protecting life, property and the environment. The Minister underlined that municipalities have responsibility for controlling infrastructure and human resources at the local level, but added that fire protection is a shared institutional responsibility.
"Infrastructure and human resources at the local level are controlled by municipalities, but this does not mean that everyone has a separate job. This is a shared job and concern. The focus of this plan remains the prevention of fire incidents, increasing operational readiness and protecting the lives of citizens and personnel engaged in extinguishing fires," said Lamallari.
He also announced that, in addition to operational interventions, the government is also working to improve the financial treatment and status of fire service employees. According to the minister, a decision is ready to financially cover overtime, days off and official holidays for the employees of this service.
Minister Lamallari emphasized that the rank system in the fire service is also being reviewed, with the aim of creating a clearer and more favorable status for employees in this sector. The Minister warned that for inspections in tourist resorts, bars, restaurants and accommodation facilities, to guarantee the implementation of fire protection measures and the functionality of evacuation plans.
"On the other hand, there will be checks in resorts, bars, restaurants and accommodation facilities, wherever there is an increased influx of citizens, to ensure that fire protection measures have been implemented and that evacuation plans are functional," the minister declared. He added that the operations and checks on the ground aim to guarantee a safe tourist season, so that every visitor entering Albania feels protected during their stay in the country.
