Mallakastra with market for olive oil, Minister Salla: Choose to buy Albanian and eat Albanian
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, participated today in Mallakastër in the inauguration of the live poultry and olive oil market, an investment of the Mallakastër Municipality in the service of farmers in the area and beyond. The Mayor of Mallakastër Municipality, Qerim Ismailaj, and the MP for the area, Klevis Jahaj, were present at the event.
During the inauguration, Minister Salla emphasized that this market, open for the first time, creates suitable conditions for the trade of local products, especially during the festive period, avoiding street vending and guaranteeing better trading standards for farmers and consumers. According to him, these spaces are essential for strengthening local markets and increasing the value of Made in Albania products.
Minister Salla also praised the importance of creating an Albanian brand for the Kalinjot olive of Mallakastra, describing it as a model of cooperation between local government and farmers. He stated that this model “strengthens the rural economy, goes beyond individual production and guarantees greater access to financing, markets and sustainable income for farmers.”
Also, Minister Salla emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development supports this approach through policies aimed at strengthening local markets, developing short supply chains and bringing farmers closer to the consumer, as part of the vision for a competitive and sustainable agriculture.
In conclusion, Minister Salla conveyed a direct call to citizens: "In these holidays, choose to buy Albanian and eat Albanian, supporting local farming families and authentic Albanian products, because the local economy is strengthened where production is valued."
The new market in Mallakastër is an important step in promoting local products, serving as an example of cooperation between local and central institutions in support of Albanian agriculture.
