The decline in exports "burdens" the trade balance / The deficit reached 488 billion lek, deepening by 3.4% for January-November

In November, exports of goods in Albania reached 28 billion lek, marking a decrease of 6.9%, compared to November 2024. Compared to October 2025, exports decreased even more significantly, by 10.1%.
During the January-November period of 2025, exports of goods reached 319 billion lek, decreasing by 7.0%, compared to the same period of 2024.
At an eleven-month level, the decrease in exports was mainly influenced by “Construction materials and metals” and “Minerals, fuels and electricity”. While the groups “Food, beverages, tobacco” and “Machinery, equipment and spare parts” had a positive impact.
On the other hand, imports of goods were estimated at 71 billion lek, decreasing by 3.0% compared to the same month a year ago and by 11.1% compared to October of the same year. As an eleven-month period, imports have decreased by 1.0% compared to the same period in 2024.
The groups that have had a negative impact on the annual decrease in imports are "Machinery, equipment and spare parts", "Construction materials and metals", while the groups that have had a positive impact are: "Minerals, fuels, electricity", "Food, beverages, tobacco".
As a result, in eleven months, the trade deficit reached 488 billion lek, increasing by 3.4% compared to a year earlier. This indicates that the decline in exports has been more pronounced than that in imports.
In November 2025, the largest decrease in exports was recorded with Italy, Germany and Spain. Meanwhile, increases in exports were recorded towards Kosovo, Greece and China.
At an eleven-month level, exports have decreased the most with Italy, Kosovo and China, while growth has been recorded with Greece, Germany and Spain.
Regarding imports, in November 2025 the largest decline was recorded with Italy, Greece and Germany, while increases were recorded with China, Turkey and the USA. For the entire eleven-month period, imports decreased mainly with Italy, Turkey and Germany, while they increased significantly with China, Greece and Kosovo.
