"The new railway connection to the airport is becoming a reality" - HSH: Towards the completion of the Domje-Rinas segment!
Albanian Railways announces that the new railway connection with Rinas Airport is becoming a reality as construction works for the Domje-Rinas segment are nearing completion.
According to HSH, so far 5 km of new railway track, 2 bridges over the Tirana River and the Lana River, 13 manholes for water drainage, as well as 2 level crossings with the Laksani and Bruka roads have been built.
This project is part of the Durrës-Tirana railway line and enables fast and stable connections between Durrës, Tirana and Rinas Airport.
The construction of this line will bring less traffic, less pollution, and more convenience for citizens and tourists.
According to the project of this railway line, the travel time from Tirana to Durrës will be 24 minutes and from Tirana to Rinas only 12 minutes.
The line will have 11 stations, which will start from Durrës, to continue to Shkozet-Sukth-Vorë-Kashar, these existing lines but which have undergone repairs. Then the railway axis will continue to Laknas, Tirana Airport and Tirana Public Transport Terminal.
Stations 9 and 10 are foreseen and designed to be built in the contract for the additional segment from the Tirana Public Transport Terminal to Bulevardi i Ri. Meanwhile, station 11 is intended to be located at the intersection of “Jordan Misja” street-Bulevardi i Ri.
The Tirana-Durres railway train will be electric, while the speed of movement is expected to be 100 km/h. The railway is about 34 km long and its financing is supported by the EBRD through a loan worth 70 million euros.
