Kumbaro gathers pre-university education leaders - New school year/ Innovation: expansion of the "After School" program to over 400 educational institutions
Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro, on the eve of the start of the new school year, gathered in an extended meeting the leaders of the Ministry of Education, pre-university education agencies, as well as regional directorates and local education offices throughout Albania.
The focus of this meeting was on the measures and preparations for the launch of a regular learning process in all educational institutions in the country, both from the point of view of learning infrastructure, as well as in the creation of sustainable communication and a welcoming environment for students.
"With leaders of the Ministry of Education and pre-university education agencies, Regional Directorates and 52 Local Education Offices from all over Albania, in a meeting where we each discussed the measures taken to start a successful school year—from school infrastructure, security, new curricula, creating the most friendly and welcoming environments for students, building sustainable communication with parents, teachers and educational communities, as well as completing the school experience by extending the hours beyond the lessons with the "After School" program.
We are putting the finishing touches on the preparation of the "After School" program, which will be extended to more than 400 institutions, offering not just a stay after school hours, but quality time filled with social, artistic, sports, crafts, and many other activities in collaboration with the community ," was the message of Minister Kumbaro.
Kumbaro also emphasized the launch of the new curriculum program for grades 1, 6, 10, the distribution of new and free textbooks from grade IV, compliance with the instruction to ban cell phones in schools, and the enrichment of the SMIP platform with the "After School" program.
In the new school year, 42 new educational facilities and sports fields equipped with modern teaching conditions will open their doors. Meanwhile, the second phase of registration for first and tenth grades has started on August 24th and will end on September 7th.
