The phone is replacing the bank counter - BoS: Transfers, payments and account

Albanians are increasingly embracing digital ways of receiving banking services. The growth of home banking is undoubtedly an important indicator towards reducing the use of physical cash.

According to data from the Bank of Albania, around 6.5 million are the number of banking transactions carried out from home via phone or computer, up from 5 million in the first half of last year.

In terms of the amount of transactions performed, in January-June 2026, 1.5 billion lek were transferred via the bank's website or applications.

Throughout this year, June has set a record both in terms of the number of transactions and the amount of money transferred.

Home banking, also known as banking at home, offers access to your online account, as well as the ability to transfer money or perform other actions with a few clicks of the cursor or on your phone screen.

The services offered through home banking vary by bank. However, most of them offer a basic level of online services. They can be divided into two main categories, transactional and non-transactional functions. Transactional functions include credit card payments or loan installment repayments, transfers between personal accounts, transfers to any account, to any bank inside and outside Albania, payments of telephone, electricity, water bills, etc.

Meanwhile, non-transactional functions include checking balances and account movements, periodic payment orders, debit and credit card balances, consumer and home loans (i.e. outstanding balances, payment dates, installment amounts), details of your term deposit or opening a new deposit.
