IAIS Annual Conference in Tirana/ AFSA Director: Opportunity to present Albania to the markets!
The Financial Supervisory Authority will welcome in Tirana the Annual Conference of the International Organization of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the most prestigious event at a global level in the field of insurance supervision.
The activities will take place during the week of 10–14 November 2025, with the main conference taking place on 13 November, at the premises of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. Around 500 high-level representatives from insurance regulatory authorities, the international insurance industry, and international financial institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the OECD, the European Union and EIOPA (European Insurance and Pensions Authority) are expected to participate.
During the first three days of the week, meetings of the IAIS technical committees will be held, with the participation of about 230 heads of regulatory authorities from over 150 countries. Bilateral meetings between supervisory authorities are also planned as part of the activity, as well as separate meetings between heads of international insurance companies, with the aim of creating spaces for cooperation and strategic dialogue at the industry leadership level.
One of the highlights of the week will be the EIOPA Forum, with the theme: "Advancing Insurance Reforms on the Path to European Integration", which will focus on the challenges and opportunities that the European integration process brings for candidate countries, in line with Albania's strategic objectives on the path to membership in the European Union.
The Executive Director General of the AFSA, Mimoza Kaçi, states: “Hosting the IAIS 2025 Annual Conference is an honor for me and for the Authority. This event is not only a historic moment, but also an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation and to present Albania as a partner in the field of insurance market supervision.”
After Tokyo in 2023 and Cape Town in 2024, the selection of Albania as the host country for the 2025 edition is an important assessment for the country and for the Financial Supervisory Authority as the host institution. This organization comes at an important moment for the Albanian insurance market, supporting the reform and integration processes, with the aim of strengthening institutions and the financial sector, in line with European standards.
