"KAYO", at the center of the Rome agreements - Vengu: We sign 8 agreements on defense and military industry
Defense Minister Pirro Vengu provided further details on the agreements signed in Rome in the field of defense. Minister Vengu stated that out of the 16 agreements signed in total, 8 of them are in the field of defense, while emphasizing the cooperation of the state-owned company "KAYO" with the Italian giant "Fincantieri".
"Of the 16 agreements we are signing today, 8 of them are in the field of defense, military industry and civil protection. First of all, we have the first agreement in three decades now, the first time we are renewing the military partnership with Italy, for many reasons within NATO, for reasons of the military industry that we want to have in focus, from both shores of the Adriatic. We have two agreements signed between the state company KAYO, the Italian giant Fincantieri for the production of military ships and not only in Pashaliman and this is a significant achievement of the meeting of the two governments. Another agreement between KAYO and another Italian company Leonardo, specialized in military technologies, cyber defense a special focus this time and at the table of the two prime ministers and we continue with significant support in terms of civil protection."
Minister Vengu stated that Italy will also assist the Albanian side in improving Civil Protection capacities.
"The Albanian civil protection has had an excellent cooperation with this Italian one and we want to take this partnership to an even higher level for the creation of all early warning training systems and the entire civil emergency resilience system of our country, and the creation of the obligation that stems from the EU and for us to have the European number 112 where all Albanian citizens, or visitors to our country, can refer to for any emergency."
The signed agreements are expected to deepen the strategic partnership between Albania and Italy, paving the way for the development of the Albanian military industry and the strengthening of civil protection capacities in the country.
