Gonzato on the investigations against Balluk: You cannot punish people before investigations and judicial proceedings have taken place

The EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, has expressed his position regarding the charges brought by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution against Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
Asked on the show "Top Story" regarding the investigation launched by SPAK against No. 2 of the Albanian government, Belinda Balluku, the EU ambassador responded:
"We have a policy of not commenting on matters under investigation. Because one of the principles that governs the judiciary is the presumption of innocence. So you can't start sentencing people before investigations and court proceedings have taken place . "
The EU ambassador's stance comes at a time when the opposition has increased its attacks on the Deputy Prime Minister, following SPAK's accusations about the Llogara tunnel.
