Ibrahimaj: Albania's economic transformation is accelerating, investments,

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Ms. Delina Ibrahimaj, participated today in the panel dedicated to Albania's economic transformation within the framework of the forum "Albania's Steady Rise as a Regional Economic Centre".

In this discussion, attended by representatives of business, academia, foreign investors and policymakers, the minister emphasized the important moment in which the Albanian economy is today and the strategic directions that are guiding its journey towards 2030.

In her speech, Ms. Ibrahimaj focused on the work done in recent years to move from an economy based primarily on consumption and services, towards a new model based on productivity, innovation and the creation of added value within the country.

She emphasized that important reforms have been undertaken to increase economic efficiency, digitize services, and modernize the private sector, while data from the last five years clearly show the positive effects of these changes.

"Sustainable economic growth, higher employment, reduced unemployment and debt, as well as inflation below the Bank of Albania's target," said Minister Ibrahimaj.

The Minister noted that this stability is the strongest proof that the Albanian economy has full potential to accelerate even further.

During her speech, the minister also spoke about European integration, which she described not as a wish, but as a clear work plan and an irreversible process that is now closely linked to the modernization of the economy.

"The first chapters to be closed in the negotiations are related precisely to the European common market and the increase in production standards, competitiveness and economic governance," Ibrahimaj added.

Fulfilling the obligations of this process, the Minister underlined, requires intensive work from public institutions, but also a deep involvement of business, which must adopt new standards and invest in modernization.

One of the main directions of development that the Minister focused on was the increase in exports and their industrialization.

"The new export strategy, which is expected to be approved within this year, aims for Albania to move from semi-processed products towards final production and increase its role in European supply chains," the Minister declared.

Ibrahimaj underlined that foreign direct investments should focus on projects that bring technology, new standards and value-added products, not just being simple production links, but real contributors to the country's industrial development.

The minister also spoke about the green transition, which according to her is a global task, but also an extraordinary economic opportunity for Albania.

Ibrahimaj recalled that our country produces 100% green energy and has the potential to become a net energy exporter by 2030, while the main challenge remains diversifying sources and increasing security of supply.

The Minister encouraged Albanian businesses to invest in smart technology, emission reduction and energy efficiency, seeing the green transition as a real chance for competitive growth.

A special place in her speech was occupied by human capital, which the minister considered the foundation of any economic transformation.

The Minister emphasized that digital developments and the green transition are transforming the skills required by the market, so cooperation between the private sector and the education system is necessary to ensure that young people are equipped with modern and appropriate skills for the economy that is being built.

Ms. Ibrahimaj stated that the presence of large domestic companies, international groups, foreign investors and Albanian entrepreneurship in this forum is a clear indicator of increased trust in Albania.

According to her, our country is increasingly seen as a regional development platform, a space where production capacities, new supply chains, and sustainable value projects can be established.

Today's forum, said the minister, is a concrete opportunity to connect policies with investments, strategies with projects, and vision with results.

"It is the space where collaborations arise that really impact the economy and lead Albania towards a sustainable and long-term transformation," the Minister underlined.
