Railways and ports, new bridges of cooperation - Istanbul Transport Forum/Balluku: Projects with regional benefit
Electrification of railways, new fleets of electric vehicles, green ports and large projects with regional benefits were among the main topics discussed at the Global Transport and Connectivity Forum, held in Istanbul. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, who participated in the forum, stressed the importance of the forum for cooperation and development of transport.
"Under the umbrella of the Turkish government and with the special care of President Erdogan, the Global Transport and Connectivity Forum was held. 70 ministers and even more delegations from all over the world participated in this important annual event that brings together European countries with their valuable experience in terms of regulatory frameworks and high-feasibility projects as well as countries from Asia and other continents that bring experience in bold projects and advanced technology. Panels with the presence of ministers to address the most sensitive issues were held in front of a wide audience to speak clearly and openly about the challenges that governments face today in terms of transport and multimodal connectivity in general, new technology that advances every day and requires commitment from all transport actors. Electrification of railways, new fleets of electric vehicles, green ports, connected to dry ports and above all projects with regional benefits were discussed since transport no longer has borders."
Balluku stated that the progress Albania has made in the field of transport was also presented at this forum.
"I have presented on this occasion the important progress that Albania has made in the field of road transport, civil aviation, and I have presented the new projects related to ports, with those ports that have put Albania on another list, on a list of developed countries. The Global Forum for Transport and Connectivity has marked another call of this community for substantial cooperation, for coordinated projects that connect countries and regions, even continents, and above all, these connectivity instruments are not only available to the economy, trade, but are also at the service of citizens. On the other hand, they are important and irreplaceable units of world security."
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, emphasized, among other things, that, nowadays when security is undoubtedly at the top of every government's list, multimodal transport is important and vital.
