"The remaining chapters will be opened by the end of 2025" - Hasani-Bjerre Meeting: Strong cooperation for European integration
On July 1, Denmark takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, being a great help to Albania, which aims to open the remaining negotiation chapters by the end of this year.
This was also the main topic of discussion at the meeting held between the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, and the Minister for European Affairs of Denmark, Marie Bjerre.
"This visit coincides with a moment when the third chapter group is expected to open, which is related to competitiveness and inclusive growth. Albania is not only moving on the right path, but is accelerating its steps, adhering to the major objective: to open the remaining chapters within this year. In 2027, the negotiations will be concluded, while in 2030 we will sit as equals with other European countries. This was precisely the topic of discussion with Danish Minister Bjerre, who showed Denmark's support for our country. Denmark takes over the presidency of the European Union on July 1 and with its support, the remaining chapters will be opened within this year. We have entered a decisive phase for Albania's integration into the European Union," said Minister Hasani.
Support also came from the Danish side, where Minister Marie Bjerre declared that after assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union, Denmark will assist Albania in opening the remaining chapters by the end of the year.
“I am here because we are preparing to take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1. We had a very good meeting, where we talked about the progress that Albania has shown with the reforms undertaken over the years.
The time has now come for Europe to be stronger than ever, and this is achieved also through enlargement. While I am here, I feel that with this progress that Albania has made, it will very soon become a member state. You deserve to be part of this family.”
This meeting comes at an important moment for Albania, a few days after the organization of the European Political Community Summit in Tirana.
