German financing in energy - Karakaçi: 110 million euros for 3 projects in Albania. 20 million euros are grants
Albania will benefit from 110 million euros in funding from the German government for the implementation of three projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The news was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, who announced the approval of the three agreements, where 20 million euros will be in the form of a grant.
According to the minister, the funds will be used to continue the rehabilitation of student dormitories, the rehabilitation of the Vau i Dejës hydroelectric power plant, as well as the digitalization of the transmission operator's system.
"We have approved three agreements with the German government today, 110 million euros, 20 million euros in grants for three projects," Karakaçi declared.
He explained that the first project is related to the continuation of the rehabilitation of student dormitories, while the other two projects focus on the energy sector, namely the Vau i Dejës hydroelectric power plant and the digital modernization of the transmission operator's system.
Minister Karakaçi also spoke about the new policies being undertaken in the energy sector. He announced that two programs for licensing solar panels for the production of hot water have been completed.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy is working on amending the law on energy efficiency, which also foresees the creation of a special Fund. According to Karakaç, the fund will serve as a support mechanism for citizens and businesses, with the aim of encouraging investments in energy efficiency.
"We are amending the energy efficiency law. It also foresees the creation of an energy efficiency fund. There will be a fund that will provide support to citizens and businesses," said the minister.
