The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, held a meeting with the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Albania, Randi Davis, where the focus was on economic developments and opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, the importance of maintaining macroeconomic and financial stability was assessed, while the new challenges facing the Albanian economy were also discussed.

An important part of the talks was dedicated to green finance and climate change. The Bank of Albania is working on the inclusion of climate and environmental factors in the financial sector, while UNDP expressed its readiness to support initiatives that increase the capacities of financial actors in this regard.

The focus was also on financial and digital education, as well as the development of payment systems and strengthening cybersecurity. The parties assessed the need to increase the financial literacy of citizens and the safer use of financial services.

Another point of discussion was support for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially in improving their access to finance and strengthening their capacities. UNDP emphasized that this is an area with potential for sharing experiences and developing joint initiatives.

During the meeting, Albania's European integration and the importance of institutional reforms and policy approximation with European Union standards were also discussed.

In conclusion, both sides expressed their willingness to continue cooperation in green finance, financial and digital education, payment systems, support for SMEs, and sustainable economic development.
