Energy in tourist areas - New line in Orikum, OSSH: Necessary due to urban developments
The Distribution System Operator has opened the tender with a limit fund of 159.7 million lek for the construction of a new 20 kV medium voltage line and electrical cabins in the Orikum area, which is one of the tourist areas with significant growth in the south of the country.
The project foresees the construction of a medium voltage line, the construction of 8 new electrical cabins, the reconstruction of 10 existing cabins, as well as the installation of a low voltage network with ABC cables in the city of Orikum.
According to the accompanying documents, the Orikum area is now almost united with the urban outskirts of Vlora, together with the Radhima area. "It constitutes one of the most frequented areas during the tourist season and with the construction of Lungomare 3, an intensive urban and construction development," the document states, among other things.
For these reasons, the current capacities of the distribution network have been exceeded, leading to the need for intervention and capacity increase.
According to OSSH, this investment is part of the national strategy for the modernization of the electricity network, aiming to increase the security of supply for existing customers and support the long-term tourist and urban development of the area.
In the future, the new O4 feeder will be connected to the O3 feeder, which will supply the Orikum beach area, guaranteeing a more stable network and uninterrupted energy supply.
