Albanians are preferring banking services from home - BoA: In five months, 21% more home banking transactions than in 2024
Albanians are using more banking services from home, through online websites or bank applications, saving time and avoiding queues at their physical branches.
According to data from the Bank of Albania, in the first five months of the year, the number of transactions carried out through home banking reached 4.3 million, an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2024.
On the other hand, the amount of transactions also reached a record value of 1 billion lek, increasing by 14.7% compared to January-May 2024. This means that Albanians are not only carrying out more transactions in number, but are also transferring more money.
The year 2025 started very positively for home banking, but with some fluctuations in certain months. May marked a 4% decrease in the number of transactions and 3.1% in their value.
Home banking, also known as home banking, is used to make money transfers, pay taxes, electricity, water, telephone bills, police fines, credit card payments, and more, without the need to appear at physical bank branches.
Bank customers can access these banking services wherever they are as long as they have internet access. Previously, customers only had to physically appear to perform even simple banking services, but now, thanks to digitalization, many services can be performed online even outside of official banking hours.
The increase in transactions carried out through bank applications or online websites is an indicator of the digitalization of banking services, while further increasing the financial inclusion of citizens, as well as the transparency of banking operations.
