Fire damage, assessment and compensation procedures approved - Assessment groups established by order of the mayors
The procedures for assessing and compensating for damage caused by the fires have been approved. The news was announced by Defense Minister Pirro Vengu in a post he shared on social media.
According to the minister, "The assessment and compensation of damages caused by the fires will be carried out in each affected municipality, according to a special procedure, which begins with their identification by the Assessment Group for the inventory of damages, established by order of the Mayor.
This group carries out an inventory of damages to housing, infrastructure, businesses, agricultural crops, mechanical equipment, social-cultural facilities and completes forms with financial costs. The composition of the assessment groups will be according to the nature of the disaster and the character of the losses and the Technical assessment.
Inspection teams will visit each damaged facility and fill out damage forms with the corresponding financial costs. The municipalities will then compile complete damage documentation.
Then, the municipalities prepare lists of damaged entities and relevant documentation, and after a financial assessment, each municipality determines the cost of compensation, which is carried out from the funds of the affected municipality, through the civil protection fund.
According to the announcement, the compensations will be carried out with municipal funds through the civil protection fund. In the absence of funds, they will be planned for the following year and in the event that the fund exceeds 8 percent of the municipality's budget, the compensation requests will be transferred to the National Civil Protection Agency.
