Average insurance damage falls to 105 thousand lek - AFSA: Average compensation, lowest in 2025. Border, the only one with an increase

The insurance market has seen a decrease in average claims paid during the period January-November 2025, compared to the same period a year earlier. The decline is observed in both life insurance and non-life insurance and motor insurance.
Initially, the average claim paid by life and non-life insurance companies has fallen from 110 thousand lek in 2024 to 105 thousand lek in 2025. So, last year, an average claim was compensated for around 110 thousand lek, while this year this figure has dropped to 105 thousand lek. Although the difference of 5 thousand lek seems small, it signals a general direction where payments are becoming lower, or serious claims have decreased.
In life insurance, from 98 thousand lek a year ago, this year the average value of a claim has reached 96 thousand lek. This may indicate that the life market has not had strong events that have affected the size of claims.
Regarding motor insurance, the average claim has decreased from 171 thousand lek to 166 thousand lek, a slight decrease, which may come either from smaller claims or from tighter control of compensation.
Green card insurance, i.e. for vehicles with Albanian license plates traveling abroad, has suffered a significant decline. In 11 months, the average claim has dropped from 969 thousand lek to just 584 thousand lek. This sharp difference can be linked to fewer trips, fewer accidents, and more.
On the other hand, border insurance, which is obtained from vehicles with foreign license plates entering Albania, has shown the opposite trend, the average claim for this category has increased significantly, becoming one of the highest-cost products for companies.
