Port of Durres, increase in goods and passengers/ January-November, 3.5 million

The Port of Durres continues to consolidate its position as the main maritime transport hub in Albania, recording positive results during the first 11 months of 2025.

According to the Durres Port Authority, the total volume of processed goods exceeded 3.5 million tons, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period last year. This translates into about 203 thousand tons more goods handled in the four Durres port terminals.

During this period, 2,664,265 tons of imported goods and 861,370 tons of exports were registered, confirming the role of the port as a strategic center for supplying the domestic market and at the same time as an important corridor for the export of Albanian products to international markets, emphasizes the Durrës Port Authority.

A particular impact on growth was provided by the intensification of imports, which increased by 23.7%, reflecting the revival of economic activity and the increased reliability of the Port of Durres as an important logistics center in the region.

The container sector has also recorded a positive performance. During the period January-November 2025, 207,655 containers were processed, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year. In terms of tonnage, over 1.92 million tons of goods were handled at the container terminal, which represents an increase of 2.9%, demonstrating a steady increase in containerized cargo flows.

An increase was also observed in passenger traffic. During the period January-November 2025, 726,824 passengers were registered, or about 1% more than a year earlier. According to data from the Durrës Port Authority, over 341 thousand passengers were registered at the entrance to the country, while another 386 thousand traveled to Italian ports.

In the progressive analysis November 2024 - November 2025, 922 ferry sailings were carried out to and from the Port of Durres, confirming the role of the port in supporting tourism and cross-border movement.

A positive trend has also been recorded in vehicle transportation, where during January-November 2025, a total of 253,485 vehicles, cars, trucks and trailers were transported, with an increase of 5,967 vehicles compared to the same period in 2024.
