Where do children's toys come from? We bought more than a year ago. China

The holiday season has arrived and for many citizens, buying toys has become one of the main activities of this period. This time of year is also directly reflected in the increase in the import of certain products, which of course includes toys, but also pyrotechnic products. According to statistical data, this market marks a significant increase during the months of November and December. “Scan Intel” has analyzed the data of the Institute of Statistics on the import of toys for the month of November of this year, comparing them both in years and with the same month of previous years. But what does this data specifically show? How does the toy market currently look?

INSTAT data show that for the 11-month period of 2025, toy imports reached 3.3 billion lek and their highest value was reached in October and November. In absolute terms, regarding October and November, we say that 442 million and 433 million lek of toys were imported respectively. Compared to the previous year, more toys were purchased as imports by weight have increased, while it turns out that we have bought them even cheaper. So, the increase in volume is accompanied by a decrease in the average price per unit

If we analyze the data by month over the years, we see that October 2025 marked the highest value of imported toys since January 2005, the last year for which INSTAT has data. The volume of goods in October of this year is estimated at 716 tons.

'Scan Intel' has analyzed data to understand the origin of toys traded in our country. The figures show that China remains the main country from which we import if we refer to weight, i.e. volume. During the current year, i.e. 2025, 80% of the toys that entered the country originated from China. Meanwhile, the figures show that 4.8% of these toys were from Turkey and 4.5% from Italy. On the other hand, we can also mention partners such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Greece.

According to Eurostat data, China was the largest supplier of toys to the EU with 80% of toy imports, well ahead of Vietnam with 6% and the United Kingdom with 3%.
