National axes open for vehicle traffic - ARRSH: Frost and low temperatures, authorities on standby 24/7

The Albanian Road Authority reports that in the early hours of the morning, rain and snowfall throughout the country have stopped. The meteorological situation appears calmer, however, low temperatures have been recorded in some areas of the country, especially in the northeast and in mountainous areas.
Extreme temperatures were recorded during the night, with the lowest values recorded in Valbona at minus 18 degrees Celsius, in Kukës-Shishtavec at minus 13 degrees, and in Theth at minus 8 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, landslides have been recorded on the Klos-Burrel road axis as a result of heavy rainfall. Working groups of the Albanian Road Authority have intervened on the ground, clearing inert materials and guaranteeing the restoration of normal vehicle traffic, without problems for drivers.
According to the ARA, all national roads are currently open to traffic. Road maintenance contractors have been working non-stop, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with snow removal vehicles and manpower, to clear the roads of snow.
The Albanian Road Authority calls on drivers to exercise maximum caution while driving, and to avoid unnecessary movements in areas affected by low temperatures. The use of winter tires is mandatory for all vehicles circulating in mountainous areas, or on road segments where the presence of snow and frost has been reported, while it is also recommended to equip them with chains on problematic axes.
Also, the situation is being continuously monitored and the responsible structures are fully prepared to intervene in any emergency, in order to guarantee the safety of road users and the smooth running of road traffic throughout the country.
