Tirana Airport "broke" a record in August - Over 1.4 million passengers and 8,106 flights registered

Tirana International Airport is continuing its positive trend, confirming the steady growth of air traffic in Albania. During the month of August 2025 alone, TIA welcomed 1 million 413 thousand passengers. Likewise, 8,106 flights were registered to 108 destinations in 32 different countries, making the airport an important air traffic hub in the region.
During the first 8 months of the year, 7.83 million arriving passengers were registered at Tirana International Airport. Compared to the same period last year, this number has increased by about 8%.
TIA remains the main bridge connecting Albania to the world. Tirana Airport is welcoming and transporting more and more travelers, both domestic and foreign. The growth is related not only to the influx of foreign tourists, but also to Albanians who have chosen to travel to new destinations opened this summer, such as: Nantes, Bordeaux and Lisbon. According to official data, Italian cities continue to remain the most preferred for Albanian travelers, especially Milan, Rome and Bologna. In addition to them, a large volume of passengers has also been registered towards London and Vienna.
Tirana Airport has become a regional benchmark in terms of rapid growth and expansion, marking the highest passenger growth after the pandemic period with a 152% increase, leaving behind Montenegro which has increased its flows by 34%.
TIA is investing in digitization and improving the passenger experience, through electronic gates for faster border controls; advanced security scanners; expanded parking with over 1,900 spaces and a multi-story structure; digital boarding passes, eliminating waiting at counters. These measures have significantly increased efficiency and created a smoother and faster experience for passengers.
