14 million euros from energy sales - Albanian Power Corporation conducts 5 procedures in January

As flows in the Drini Cascade reached high levels as a result of recent weeks' rainfall, the Albanian Power Corporation has developed several sales procedures, generating revenue for the company.
According to data published by KESH, a total of 5 procedures have been carried out, through which about 180 thousand mWh of energy have been sold, with prices ranging from 34.64 euros/mWh, which is the lowest, to 109.75 euros/mWh, which is the highest price. The average price results in 71.4 euros/mWh, while in total almost 14 million euros have been secured.
The procedures developed so far present a stark contrast to last year, which was not good from the point of view of electricity. This is due to the lack of rainfall, which would have enabled production in the hydropower plants of Fierza, Koman and Vau i Dejës, forcing the Corporation to develop dozens of energy purchase procedures, in order to meet consumer needs. This caused the total bill for energy imports to reach over 160 million euros, highlighting once again the importance of diversifying energy production sources.
This is because currently, the majority is generated by hydroelectric power plants and only a small part has solar power plants. More specifically, about 94% of the total energy is produced by the Drini Cascade hydroelectric power plants, both private and concessionary, while 6% is generated by photovoltaic power plants that are in production.
