How much does postal service cost? Albania among the countries with affordable tariffs in Europe

Postal costs vary from country to country, depending on the weight, distance or type of shipment. However, if we consider a standard item, such as a regular letter, it becomes easier to compare rates and understand how European countries rank in terms of prices. This comparison highlights significant differences between countries, with some applying very high rates, while others offer minimal costs to citizens.
According to data published by Maps Interlude, based on DHL sources, the highest price on the continent is in Denmark, where the delivery costs 3.90 euros. The rate also remains high in Finland at 3.45 euros and in Italy at 2.80 euros. On the other hand, Malta is the country with the lowest price in Europe, only 0.30 euros for sending a standard letter, while countries like Hungary at 0.56 euros, Spain at 0.75 euros or Poland at 0.85 euros apply relatively low rates.
In this European panorama, Albania ranks among the countries with affordable costs. Currently, sending a standard letter within the country ranges from 80 to 110 lekë, which translated into euros is approximately from 0.8 to about 1 euro. This places Albania at a low average level compared to European Union countries, significantly cheaper than the Nordic countries, but slightly more expensive than some Central and Eastern European countries, or Malta, which holds the record for the lowest rate.
The large differences in prices are related to various factors, such as labor costs, geographical spread, number of deliveries and government subsidies. In countries where the use of traditional mail has declined due to digital communication, tariffs have increased to compensate for operating costs. Meanwhile, in countries with higher volumes or more subsidized structures, prices remain lower.
