103 thousand pairs of clothing suspected of being counterfeit goods are blocked at Durres Customs
The Anti-Smuggling Directorate announces that in cooperation with the Durrës Customs Branch, today it has blocked a quantity of 103,000 pairs of various clothing, which bore the names of well-known international brands such as Adidas, Nike, Gucci, Dior, Hugo Boss and Calvin Klein.
There are suspicions of violations of trademark law and intellectual property rights for these goods.
This phenomenon, together with the uncontrolled trade in used clothing (gabi), constitutes an early wound that severely damages local producers. This situation creates unfair competition and prevents them from taking the place they deserve in the local market with Albanian products and brands.
Considering that, according to statistics on the fight against illegal phenomena, only about 10% of illegal goods manage to be blocked, it is easy to imagine the real size of the quantity entering the country.
The authorities call on the competent bodies to further intensify efforts to combat these phenomena, which harm the domestic market and Albanian producers who have been trying for years to be an active and competitive part of the national market.
