France-Albania/ Minister Malaj invites French investors to invest in priority sectors of the economy

The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, held an official meeting with the Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness of the French government, Nicolas Forissier, and the delegation accompanying him.
During this meeting, the parties discussed the progress of cooperation between the two countries and its further strengthening in the future, with a focus on European integration, sustainable development and the promotion of bilateral investments.
Minister Malaj appreciated the continued support that the French government has provided to our country, the reforms undertaken by the Albanian government, and emphasized the great potential that exists to expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister of Finance invited French investors to increase their presence in Albania by investing in priority sectors of the economy, such as tourism, agriculture, infrastructure or digitalization.
Malaj expressed gratitude for France's support for Albania's progress towards EU membership, and in particular for the public support of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, for Albania's objective of completing the technical process of approximation with the EU acquis by 2027.
A special place in the discussions during the meeting was dedicated to the role that the French Development Agency (ADF) plays in the economic development of our country, through projects in various fields.
Since 2021, AFD has committed 330 million euros, of which 270 million euros in budget support through policy-based loans in the energy, green development and gender policies sectors, as well as 60 million euros for infrastructure investments. The five agreements signed with AFD are sovereign loans, three of which have been fully disbursed, while two others are currently in the disbursement process.
AFD has become one of the most strategic development partners for Albania.
The portfolio of cooperation with France is expected to expand significantly, contributing to sectors such as energy, water, digitalization, information technology, and the environment.
