The well-paid are increasing in the labor market/ From minimum wage to high wages. How the distribution changed within a year

In the last quarter of 2025, a slight movement of the salary structure towards higher levels is observed, compared to the same period in 2024. The data show that a larger share of employees is gradually moving into higher salary categories, while the weight of lower-wage groups has decreased.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, about 14.2% of employees were paid up to the minimum wage level. A year later, at the end of 2025, this percentage drops to 12.8%, indicating a slight contraction of this category. The group with salaries of 40 thousand to 50 thousand lek also marks a decline, from 22.5% to 21% of the total number of employees.
In the intermediate categories, the changes are smaller, but the trend remains upward. The share of employees with salaries of 50 thousand-60 thousand lekë increases slightly, from 11.8% to 12.1%, while the group of 60 thousand-95 thousand lekë remains relatively stable, moving from 24.6% to 24.8%.
The most noticeable increase is in the highest salary categories. Employees earning 95,000 to 120,000 lekë will account for 13.2% at the end of 2025, up from 12.8% a year earlier. Meanwhile, the group with salaries over 120,000 lekë will see the largest expansion, from 14.1% to 16.2% of employees.
Overall, there is a gradual shift in the wage structure towards higher levels. Although the changes are not very large, the trend signals an increase in the number of better-paid employees, while the share of lower wages is decreasing. For the public, this translates into a labor market where, at least according to the wage distribution, a slight improvement in income is being seen.
