"Price increases, the biggest concern of Albanians"/ Balkan Barometer lists the most important problems facing the economy

The Balkan Barometer has conducted a survey regarding the problems that citizens feel regarding the economic situation in all countries of the region. Rising prices and the cost of living have become the main concern for Albanian citizens. According to data published by the Balkan Barometer, a full 72% of respondents in Albania list inflation as the biggest problem facing the country's economy, a percentage significantly higher than the regional average.
In second place is the general economic situation, which is seen as a problem by 56% of citizens. This indicator reflects economic insecurity, financial difficulties of families and constant pressure on incomes, especially in conditions of increasing basic costs such as food, energy and services.
Unemployment remains another important problem, mentioned by 28% of respondents, while corruption continues to be perceived as a serious obstacle to economic development, with 31% of citizens considering it one of the main problems of the economy.
Meanwhile, issues such as political instability (9%), security (11%), quality of healthcare (16%) and quality of education (8%) are less concerning compared to the economic burden felt by Albanian families.
Albania stands out for its strong focus on economic problems and especially on rising prices, indicating that the main challenge for citizens remains coping with daily life and improving economic well-being.
At the regional level, economic problems also dominate citizens' perceptions. According to the Balkan Barometer 2025, 66% of citizens in the Western Balkans list rising prices and the cost of living as their main concern, while 44% express concern about the economic situation in general. Political instability and corruption also play a greater role in these countries. Particularly in North Macedonia (53%) and Serbia (48%), corruption is perceived as one of the main obstacles to the economy.
