Around 5 million foreigners visited Albania in 6 months/ The number increased by 6.2%, entries from Southern Europe dominate
Albania has continued to attract a high number of visitors during 2026. According to official data, in the first half of the year, nearly 5 million foreign citizens entered the Albanian territory, marking an increase of 6.2% compared to the same period in 2025. The figures confirm the continued growth of tourism and international movements towards Albania.
Referring to statistics for the month of June, the majority of visitors come from Southern Europe, which represents 66% of the arrivals of European citizens to the country. Meanwhile, Central and Eastern Europe contributes with 14% of the arrivals.
Data for this month also show that 98% of foreign nationals entered Albania for personal purposes, an indicator that has increased by 1.6% compared to June last year. In contrast, entries for business and professional purposes have decreased by 17.7%, indicating that inflows continue to be mainly supported by tourism and private travel.
During the month of June alone, around 2.08 million Albanian and foreign citizens entered the Albanian territory, or 0.9% more than in the same month of 2025.
Of the total entries, around 735 thousand were Albanian citizens, with an increase of 0.2%, while nearly 1.3 million were foreign citizens, registering an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous year.
On the other hand, during June, about 2 million Albanian and foreign citizens left Albanian territory, marking an increase of 4.7% compared to June 2025.
In more detail, around 723 thousand Albanian citizens left the country, an increase of 1.8%, while 1.28 million foreign citizens left Albania, registering an even higher increase of 6.5%. The figures reflect the intensification of border movements on the eve of and during the summer tourist season.
