Prices according to Eurostat, "count on the spot"/ Rate in September, same as in August. Entertainment and hotels had the main impact
The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, which measures price increases according to the methodology of the 'European Statistical Agency', in September 2025 is recorded at 2.3%. On the other hand, inflation according to 'INSTAT' for the same period is fixed at 2.4%. We emphasize that the measurement methodology is the same with both methods, but the differences between these two measurements come as a result of the weight given to each group of products in the calculation of inflation.
Official data shows that the average inflation in Europe is estimated at 2.6% and Albania is seen positioned below this limit for the month of August, which means that currently prices in our country are lower than the European average. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the countries with the highest price rate in Europe throughout August of this year are Romania with 8.6%, Estonia with 5.3%, Serbia with 4.9% and Kosovo with 4.7%.
If we analyze price increases by country in the region, the figures show that Albania is positioned relatively well compared to some of its neighbors in the region, including North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, which recorded a price increase rate of over 3% for the month of September.
Meanwhile, if we talk about the annual change of the groups, we see that the largest price increase of 8.8% is observed in the group "Entertainment and culture", followed by the groups "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" with 4.0%, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" with 3.5%, "Furniture, household equipment and maintenance" and "Educational services" with 2.7% each, "Miscellaneous goods and services" with 1.8%, "Rent, water, fuel and energy" with 1.6%, "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" and "Health" with 1.1% each, "Communication" with 1.0%, "Clothing and footwear" with 0.9%. On the other hand, the prices of the group "Transport" decreased by 0.7%.
