The Commissioner's Office organizes the panel on "Data Protection as Infrastructure of the Digital Future"

The Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection held today, November 7, 2025, within the framework of the International Fair "Klik Ekspo Group 2025", the discussion panel on the topic: "Data Protection as Infrastructure of the Digital Future".
The event was held at the Palace of Congresses and brought together experts from public institutions, business representatives and the banking sector, for an in-depth discussion on the importance of personal data protection in the era of digital transformation.
The discussions focused on the implementation of the new Law No. 124/2024 "On the Protection of Personal Data", its impact on the public and private sectors, as well as the role of data protection in building a sustainable and secure digital future.
The panel was moderated by the Spokesperson of the Commissioner's Office, Ms. Joniada Koçi, and brought interactive discussions between public institutions and business on new compliance and transparency standards.
The panel was attended by:
· Ms. Blerta Nerguti, Secretary General in the Office of the Commissioner;
· Ms. Pjerina Mema, Director General of Data Protection at the Office of the Commissioner.
· Mr. Dhimitër Shuli, Vice Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Digital Committee and Technical Director at Beta Balkan Team;
· Mr. Arjan Ymeri, Director of Startup Albania Agency;
· Ms. Elona Llaci, Director of Strategy and Innovation at Raiffeisen Bank;
Participants shared concrete experiences and practices on how data protection can serve as a basis for innovation and economic development.
Ms. Blerta Nerguti underlined the role of the Commissioner's Office in implementing the new legal framework and preparing practical guidelines for institutions and businesses, while Ms. Pjerina Mema emphasized the importance of a culture of compliance and raising awareness of public authorities and the private sector, as part of the institutional strategy for the first year of implementation of the law.
For their part, private sector representatives emphasized the need for close cooperation between businesses and the supervisory authority, the Commissioner's Office, so that data protection becomes a competitive advantage and an integrated element in digital products and services.
The panel concluded that innovation and data protection are not in conflict, but go hand in hand in building a sustainable, secure and trustworthy digital Albania.
This activity was held as part of the broader program of Klik Ekspo Group 2025, with the theme "Window to the Future - Albania 2030", where the Commissioner's Office participates with a dedicated informative and interactive stand, promoting a new culture on data protection, transparency and digital innovation.
