Civil society, at the center of the Regional Common Market - Transparency,

Following the Berlin Process Leaders Summit, a roundtable discussion on the topic "Civil Society in the Regional Common Market" was held in Tirana.

Project Director at the Institute for Cooperation and Development, Ardian Hackaj, welcomed the initiatives and work done so far, while emphasizing that several necessary recommendations have also been issued.

"The second issue is the openness of the process and high transparency of public policies. Civil society organizations have had a key role in monitoring investments in the connectivity sector or for commercial markets. Another important aspect is the debate on the future of the Berlin Process. We have come up with several recommendations, related to the Berlin Process, that deal with performance, competencies and sustainability," said Haçkaj.

Meanwhile, Coordinator of the Civil Society Forum of the Berlin Process 2025, Jeremy Lang said:

"In the region, internal issues in some of the countries participating in the process have not made it easier to reach agreements, however, I think we have seen very important and concrete results that show real progress in regional cooperation," said Lang.

Over the last three years, Southeastern European civil society organizations 6 have monitored the progress of the CRM since the ratification, approval or adoption procedures of the first mobility agreements.

They have regularly assessed the progress of CEFTA agreements; have been involved in the CRM 2 Action Plan consultation process; have analyzed the interaction of the Berlin Process with other regional cooperation initiatives; and have communicated all of this on the benefits of regional cooperation for citizens and businesses.
