Deputy Prime Minister Balluku at the International Conference in Monaco: Albania towards the development of the marine industry
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Ms. Belinda Balluku, participated in the 5th International Conference on Sustainable and Smart Marine, which took place today in the Principality of Monaco. This is the first time that Albania participates in this international event, marking an important step in the development of the maritime industry in the country.
Ms. Balluku emphasized that Albania has already begun drafting a national strategy for the development of marinas along the entire coastline, from north to south, with the aim of turning the country into a regional center in the heart of the Mediterranean, just like Croatia, Montenegro or Greece.
"In recent years, the Albanian maritime industry has experienced sustainable development, thanks to new projects such as the port of Porto-Romano and the one in Triport. The marinas of Durrës and Vlora are expected to start their operations soon, placing Albania on the Mediterranean map of maritime tourism," declared Balluku.
During the conference, the Deputy Prime Minister held meetings with government representatives and international investors interested in the potential that Albania offers in this growing sector. She was accompanied by renowned Italian architect Luca Dini and his team, who are working with the Ministry to build the Smart and Sustainable Marine Strategy.
According to Ms. Balluku, the development of this industry will serve as a new impetus for tourism, which has already become one of the most important sectors of the Albanian economy. Furthermore, she underlined the need to involve the younger generation in this sector through training and vocational education, creating new employment and development opportunities.
"Today was an excellent opportunity to promote Albanian infrastructure - not only road and aviation, but above all maritime. This new sector will require young professionals to embrace modern technologies and bring innovation to the Albanian maritime industry," said Balluku.
