"Tirana-Durrës train, trips in 2026" - Muçaj: Next year, the procedure for the Durrës-Rrogozhinë-Pogradec railway
The Tirana - Durrës railway will be operational at the beginning of 2026. From the Commission of Production Activities, vice. the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enkelejda Muçaj spoke about the progress of the railway projects, responding to the interest in the launch of service provision for citizens.
Also, Muçaj announced that at the beginning of 2025, the works for the railway line Vorë - Hani i Hoti will start, as well as the procedures will start, not only for the Durrës - Rrogozhinë line, but also for the rest of corridor VIII, from Rrogozhina in Pogradec.
The benefits from the operation of the Tirana - Durrës railway line are expected to be large. According to a previous estimate, net cumulative benefits for a 30-year period are estimated at around 270 million euros, deducting the investment costs.
This taking into consideration the income that will be provided by the operation of the railway, as well as the costs that are avoided in terms of health, time saved, the environment, carbon dioxide emissions or vehicle operation costs.
