December 10, deadline for bank details - Freelancers, reimbursement of 5 million euros within December
Today is the deadline for all taxpayers who provide professional services to update their bank account details, in e-Filing, in order to receive advance payments of Simplified Income Tax or Income Tax for the year 2024.
Reimbursement for freelancers with gross income up to ALL 14 million will be made to their bank accounts. It is very important that taxpayers, subject to this legal act, have an active bank account in one of the second level banks, in Lek currency.
At the end of November, the Council of Ministers approved the normative act for the return of income tax installments prepaid by self-employed professionals. About 6,450 taxpayers benefit from the normative act, who will be reimbursed with a fund of 501 million ALL.
It was also decided to cancel interest arrears created by late payment of obligations.
In the following, the government, within the framework of the medium-term revenue strategy 2024-2027, will make an assessment of all the exemptions and reductions of the tax rates that are in force, whether they should remain, or should be revised, including the review of taxation for this category as well.
The income tax law, which entered into force on January 1, 2024, taxed nearly 29,000 self-employed professionals at a rate of 15-23%. The professionals did not agree with this tax regime and took the case to the Constitutional Court. After several hearings, the Constitutional Court decided to abolish the article that taxed this layer, calling it discriminatory.
