Retail trade closes 2024 on the rise - Hydrocarbons have had the most impact on volume expansion
Figures from the Institute of Statistics show that the retail sales volume index reached 129.5, marking an increase of 7.8% in the fourth quarter of 2024.
But, compared to the previous quarter, this seasonally adjusted indicator has increased by 1.5%.
But what is the annual change in the retail sales volume index?
Referring to the data, excluding the retail trade of hydrocarbons, the sales volume in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 5.3%, the group "Food, beverages, tobacco in non-specialized and specialized trade units", the sales volume increased by 4.6%, and in the group "Non-food items in specialized and non-specialized trade units", the sales volume increased by 5.9% and in the group "Hydrocarbon trade in specialized trade units", the sales volume increased by 13.7%.
These increases were recorded compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.
But how have groups contributed to retail trade?
The impact of groups on retail trade, groups have contributed with 2.6 percentage points, the group "Non-food items in specialized and non-specialized trade units", the group "Food, beverages and tobacco in non-specialized and specialized trade units" has contributed with +1.9 percentage points and the group "Retail trade of hydrocarbons in specialized trade units" with +3.3 percentage points.
But, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the seasonally adjusted sales volume in the group "Retail trade, excluding retail trade of hydrocarbons in specialized trade units" increased by 1.4%, while, in the group "Food, beverages, tobacco in non-specialized and specialized trade units", the seasonally adjusted sales volume increased by 1.3% and the seasonally adjusted sales volume in retail trade for the group "Non-food items in specialized and non-specialized trade units" increased by 1.9%, compared to the previous quarter.
However, the group "Retail sale of hydrocarbons in specialized commercial units" has recorded the largest increase in sales volume, seasonally adjusted, increasing by 3.8% compared to the previous quarter.
