TikTok in Albania to be closed for 1 year - Government approves decision, Manastirliu: The goal is to install filters
No more TikTok for at least 12 months. The Council of Ministers approved the decision at its last meeting and the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, announced that this ban will help in the implementation of filters after this period.
"We have made the decision to take temporary measures to avoid the negative impact of the TikTok online platform. This access restriction will last for a period of 12 months, which will allow us to take all necessary measures."
Minister Manastirliu also explained that the process of blocking the social network has begun and that there has been cooperation with TikTok representatives regarding this decision.
"Regarding the interruption of access, the National Cyber Security Agency will implement the temporary shutdown of TikTok within a few days or within a week."
The minister also stressed that the ultimate goal is to establish new rules for user safety. For this reason, the government has already initiated communications with representatives of the Chinese platform.
