How many confiscated properties have been rented out? - Out of 265 properties,

Of the 265 properties confiscated from crime, only 68 have been leased by the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets. According to the catalog published by the latter, 197 properties are currently under state administration and ready for social reuse, sale, or lease. The only obstacle is that the interest of citizens in taking possession of these properties is very low, as the figures show.

Given that the majority of confiscated properties are located in Tirana and Vlora, the number of those rented out has also been higher in these two cities. Specifically, out of 51 confiscated properties in Tirana, 21 are found to have been rented. Meanwhile, out of 45 confiscated properties in Vlora, only 13 are currently rented.

Individuals have shown a higher demand for property such as apartments or business units, while there has been less interest in land use in all cities, with the exception of Lezha. However, there is no shortage of properties that have been given by the Agency for the implementation of social projects or for certain reasons have passed into the ownership of municipalities.

On the other hand, even though Saranda has a significant number of confiscated properties near the coast, interest in renting them has been zero.

In addition to the catalog, the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets regularly publishes on its social networks the price and characteristics of the properties it wants to rent. Most of the properties are in very good condition and in strategic areas, such as on the coast or in city centers, while their price is not very high. But what are the reasons for citizens' hesitation to rent them?

The fact that these properties were previously owned by people connected to crime makes them considered dangerous or unsafe to live in. Another reason is the lack of information. Many people are unaware or do not know how to search for confiscated properties that are being rented out.

In the past year, the Sequestered and Confiscated Assets Administration Agency has collected 159 million lek in revenue from the rental of these properties, about 96.2% more than in 2023, where the income generated from leasing was only 81 million lek.
