Customs, with a single window - Foreign trade facilitated, "paperless" system ready
The government has taken the initiative to create and operate a single customs window, which aims to facilitate foreign trade and simplify procedures for businesses.
Referring to the draft law submitted for public consultation, the concept of a single window is presented as a “facility that allows parties involved in trade and transport to electronically file, only once, the required information through standardized documents, at a single entry point, to meet all regulatory requirements related to imports, exports and transit.”
Through the creation of a single window, the aim is to simplify the information processing process required to meet trade-related regulatory requirements, which are presented as non-customs formalities, bringing benefits to both state authorities and economic operators who carry out activities in the field of import-export.
According to the draft, facilitating the processing and circulation of information through the National Single Window for Customs translates into the creation of a completely electronic "paperless" environment and the conversion of all paper documentation into digital documents and data.
Specifically, the use of the National Single Window for Customs system is expected to bring concrete benefits both to the competent coordinating authorities that cooperate with customs, as well as to traders or economic operators that carry out activities in the field of import-export, by guaranteeing: Better administration of procedures followed at the border; Reduction of corruption and illegal trade activities; Minimization of contacts with personnel and reduction of opportunities for bribery; Faster movement of goods; Increased transparency and accountability of the public authorities involved; Faster customs clearance of goods; More efficient and productive use of resources; Reduction of costs, for both parties involved in this process, through the electronic completion of customs and non-customs formalities, etc.
