Minister Salla: Agricultural insurance, a new scheme to protect farmers from natural disasters
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, announced that work is nearing completion on establishing an agricultural insurance scheme, a new mechanism that aims to protect farmers and agricultural production from damage caused by natural disasters.
Referring to meetings held with farmers across the country and concerns raised by them about damage from frost, hail, floods or fires, Minister Salla announced that the work on building the scheme is nearing completion.
"For all of you farmers with whom I have met across the country and who have raised your concerns about the damages caused by natural disasters, today I have good news. We are in the final stages of building an agricultural insurance scheme, which will create a new support and protection mechanism for Albanian farmers," said Minister Salla.
The scheme is intended to be accessible to both small and large farms, giving farmers more security in the face of unpredictable events that could cause significant damage to production and the income of farming families.
Minister Salla emphasized that one of the main elements of the scheme will be support from the State Budget for part of the insurance premium, reducing the costs that the farmer must bear and making this instrument more affordable and accessible.
"The farmer should not be left alone in the face of a storm, a frost or a fire that can damage an entire year's work," stressed Salla.
According to the Minister, agricultural insurance aims to create more protection, security and sustainability for farmers, but also a sector better prepared to face the risks associated with natural disasters.
"With agricultural insurance, we aim to create more protection, more security and more stability for farmers, thus building a stronger Albanian agriculture that is better prepared for any challenge," he said.
In conclusion, Minister Salla emphasized that work will continue to turn the issues raised by farmers in the field into concrete support measures.
"Our work continues to turn the concerns you have raised into concrete solutions," concluded Minister Salla.
