About 515 million claims paid for motor insurance - AMF: 86% from non-life.

The value of damages paid by insurance companies in January of this year reached 686 million lek. The latest data from the Financial Supervisory Authority show that gross damages paid increased by almost 13%, while the largest share belongs to motor insurance, specifically domestic MTPL. In total, insurance companies have paid about 515 million lek for vehicles involved in accidents.

The number of claims paid in January 2025 is over 6,178 more than in the previous year, of which 5,811 claims were paid by non-life insurance companies and 199 by life insurance companies.

In terms of life insurance, the debtor's life product has the highest claim payment values, while in the non-life category, after motor insurance comes land vehicle insurance, health insurance, and then fire and natural forces insurance.

About 86.50% of the claims paid for the non-life category, 7.34% are claims paid from the Compensation Fund and 6.18% are claims paid for life. It turns out that fewer claims were paid from the Compensation Fund than in 2024. A few weeks ago, the Financial Supervisory Authority approved the compensation fund for damages in the transport sector for 2025, which will be in the amount of 250 million lek.

On the other hand, pending damages, that is, those that are still unpaid, that are in the process of being assessed, or that are the subject of legal cases, have decreased.

Despite the fact that the amount of damages paid has increased compared to January of last year, the number of accidents caused has decreased. According to the Institute of Statistics, at the beginning of the year a total of 125 road accidents were recorded, about 22.5% less than last year.
