Tax officials, on the ground for food safety - Rama warns traders: Meat and milk without invoices will be confiscated
The General Directorate of Taxes has announced that inspection groups are on the ground to conduct checks on taxpayers who trade food and livestock products.
The purpose of this operation is to formalize the sector, but above all, guarantee food safety, in order to protect consumer health.
Speaking about this action, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the controls have begun and include the confiscation of products such as milk and dairy products if they are traded without an invoice.
"The process of inspections and confiscation of milk and dairy products without invoices has begun. Without food safety, even more so in these high temperatures, where serious consequences for the health of consumers can occur. Fresh milk and dairy products without invoices, and fresh meat without invoices, will not be allowed. Anyone who will trade them will lose the goods. And this is just the beginning of a stricter control for food safety."
Since July 7, the Tax Administration has notified, through the e-Filing platform, about 12 thousand taxpayers who trade in agricultural and livestock products to take the necessary measures and provide each product with a fiscalized invoice. Otherwise, they will face legal penalties.
