"Scanning has significantly reduced smuggling" - Rama: The Port of

Prime Minister Edi Rama participated in an activity held at the Port of Durres, where he met with representatives of transport businesses, to listen to their concerns and intervene where there are delays due to cargo flow, with the aim of promoting Albanian exports.

"The changes here are necessary and will be implemented. We are also working with the relevant ministry to help you. This is an atypical concession, the worst possible, that we have inherited, and it would cost us a lot if we were to take it to arbitration. However, we have tried to manage it, put it into use and make it as functional as possible for you. We have managed to reduce the cost from 45 euros to 22 euros. But in essence it remains a regular concession, because the scanning of trucks is done in the interest of the state for security, the fight against crime and smuggling and not for your account, " said Prime Minister Rama.

Rama also emphasized that the government's most major project is the construction of the new port of Durres, which will also include a military component in the function of NATO.

“We will build a new ultra-modern port, with international standards and advanced technology. Such ports are not often found in Europe, as they are usually built outside of it. The first phase of the selection process has been completed and we have now entered the second phase to finally select the winner. The process was repeated due to strict rules, and now we are in the phase of announcing the winner, concluding the contract and starting construction. This will be a port with the highest level of technology, which will also include a military component in the service of NATO. I believe that the best days are ahead.”

This event was also attended by the Minister of State for Climate and Entrepreneurship, Delina Ibrahimaj, who promised concrete solutions to reduce waiting times, shortening them by 2 to 4 hours.
