Balluku: We will soon present the National Railway project
Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, stated today that the agreement signed with the EIB for the financing of the Durrës-Rrogozhina railway project sets another milestone in the development of railway transport.
In her statement to the media after signing the agreement with the director of the European Investment Bank, Lionel Rapaille, Balluku stated that " all these components are completing a puzzle of rail transport, one of the most important transports for the EU, given that it offers financial efficiency for every citizen and on the other hand is environmentally friendly", declared Balluku.
She also added that the Tirana-Durres railway segment is also in the final stages of construction and will be delivered within this year, leaving until 2026 the completion of other components, its electrification and the creation of the stock of wagons and locomotives that will operate.
At the same time, she informed that construction of the Vorë-Hani i Hotit railway, one of the most important connecting segments of the region, will begin in 2025. According to her, this segment will be completed in 2029. Balluku said that the National Railway project will also be presented very soon.
"In the coming days we will also have a presentation of the national project, of great interest for the economic development of Albania and Kosovo. It is about the National Railway that will be presented in Shkodra, where there will also be a station from Shkodra to Gjakova ," she said.
Within the year, she added, we will have a complete project for the Durrës-Rrogozhinë railway segment, which is expected to be delivered as a work in 2028. This segment, Balluku noted, will be followed by the Rrogozhinë-Pogradec segment, which will be delivered in 2029.
