State system for tourism data - What are the institutions and entities that will contribute to the sector?

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has drafted a draft decision aimed at establishing a state data system for the tourism sector, which will include primary and secondary data necessary for the development, planning and monitoring of this strategic sector for the country.
According to the draft decision published in the Public Consultations, primary data are those collected directly by the relevant institutions.
While the draft decision states that the state database in the Tourism Data System, hereinafter referred to as the database, consists of data on entities that carry out activities as tourist agencies, as tourist guides, accommodation structures, as maritime tourism operators, data on entities that carry out activities as agrotourism and as tourist operators, data coming from the National Agency for Protected Areas, from Local Self-Government Units, from the Institute of Statistics, from the General Directorate of the State Police, as well as from the General Directorate of the Border.
This system will function through three main modules: the Central Tourism Registry, the e-Visitor module for registering visitors, and the analytical module for processing statistical data.
The Ministry of Tourism emphasizes that this initiative aims not only to improve transparency and the flow of inter-institutional information, but also to ease the administrative burden for tourism operators, who will not have to report the same data to several institutions.
The system will comply with the law on personal data protection and will allow limited access only to statistical data for interested parties.
The draft decision is in line with the analytical program of the Ministry of Tourism for 2025 and does not have immediate budgetary effects. The financing and construction of the system will be planned at a later stage, in cooperation with the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI). This initiative constitutes an important step towards the full digitalization of the tourism sector, guaranteeing accurate data, in real time, for the sustainable development of Albanian tourist destinations.
