How to benefit from social housing? - Four main groups of criteria. From housing conditions to economic ones
As the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation has published the document focusing on the social housing program, the criteria for how you can become a beneficiary of this program have also been presented.
The full list of eligibility criteria is divided into four groups. First, to be a beneficiary you must meet the housing conditions criterion, based on which priority is given to families who do not own a home, live in homes that are at risk of collapse, live in overcrowded homes, according to the definitions and norms in force, have become or are at risk of becoming homeless as a result of natural disasters, families or individuals who lose their home as a result of displacement or the implementation of a court decision, live in homes that are being demolished or excluded from the legalization process as a result of public investments.
Secondly, family conditions, based on which priority is given to single-parent families with dependent children, including single mothers, the elderly, who have reached retirement age and who are not selected for shelter in public social care institutions, families with more than four children, and spouses whose combined age reaches 60 years.
Thirdly, there are social conditions, based on which priority beneficiaries are persons with disabilities, in accordance with the determinations made by decision of the Council of Ministers, individuals with orphan status, families left homeless due to the vacating of former owners' apartments, returned emigrants, migrant workers and asylum seekers, families of police officers who have fallen on duty, employees of rapid intervention units and the RENEA unit, employees of the fire protection and rescue service, victims of domestic violence and trafficking, members of the Roma and Egyptian communities, minors in conflict with the law, single mothers, etc. And fourthly, the economic conditions remain a criterion, based on which families are determined, according to income groups defined in the law.
