"Boom" of new businesses in July - 45% increase, over 37 thousand applications registered

The tourist season has apparently increased citizens' initiatives to open a business. Official data from the National Business Center shows that in July alone, 1,843 new businesses were registered across the country, an increase of 45 percent compared to July 2024.
On the other hand, according to available data, 37,016 online applications were registered, reflecting a high interest and commitment from entrepreneurs regarding business matters. The applications include a wide range of services such as applications for initial registrations, changes, suspensions, activations, deregistrations.
The National Business Center operates three registries, each with specific criteria and procedures. The Commercial Registry has registered 35,139 applications; the Beneficial Owners Registry 937 applications and the Permits and Licenses Registry 1040 applications.
The Registry of Permits/Licenses and Authorizations has recorded 139 licenses issued in July and 32 permits.
July also marked the official deadline for submitting the 2024 annual balance sheets. This brought a high number of applications and submissions to the Central Bank.
CBK data shows a continuing trend of digitalization and facilitation of procedures for businesses in Albania.
As part of the digitalization reform, businesses perform all necessary services they receive from the National Business Center, online through the e-albania portal, reducing time, procedures, and waiting lines for citizens.
Also, through legal changes undertaken last year, a number of application fees previously paid by businesses have been eliminated, such as the fee for making an application for name reservation, and the method of issuing a certificate for this purpose has been regulated. The fee for transferring a name to third parties has also been removed, as well as the fee for making an application for correction of errors.
The registration certificate is sent to the subject electronically, at the same time the notification of the reason for the rejection of the application is sent to the subject electronically. It is sanctioned that the initial registration certificate is issued only once at the moment of approval of the application, and is sent to the subject electronically.
Statements are issued only in electronic format and free of charge through the electronic counter.
