What will labor inspections be like in 2026? - Informality in the market remains high, 79% of businesses in violation in 2025

The results of the inspections for 2025 show a high level of non-compliance in the labor market. According to the Inspectorate's report, 79% of the inspected entities resulted in violations, while only 21% were in compliance with legal provisions.
The largest violations were identified in the field of labor relations, which account for 39.6% of the total, as well as in occupational safety and health with 34.8%. These sectors are considered to have increased risk and will be the focus of inspections during 2026.
Another problem remains informality, which accounts for 18.5% of the identified cases. This indicator emphasizes the need to strengthen institutional cooperation and use risk analysis to identify problematic entities.
Meanwhile, although with a lower weight, violations in working conditions and failure to report accidents at work continue to remain a concern, due to their direct impact on employee safety.
Based on this data, the Labor Inspectorate plans to follow a combined approach between preventive and punitive measures, focusing on risk-based inspections, in accordance with the law, for 2026. The goal remains to increase legal compliance, improve working conditions and strengthen workplace safety.
