Price increases in markets drive away buyers - Peppers up to 500 lek/kg, tomatoes up to 400 lek/kg

The increase in fruit and vegetable prices is increasingly being felt in family budgets, as basic products are becoming more expensive week by week.
SCAN Television has conducted an observation in the capital's markets, where high prices of products consumed almost every day by citizens have been observed.
A kilogram of tomatoes in the capital's markets ranges from 250-350 lek per kilogram.
Meanwhile, what stands out is the high price of peppers, which are over 350-500 lek per kilogram.
High prices are also seen for products such as eggplants, which exceed 350 lek/kg, but also broccoli, cauliflower, mullets and peas, which have become unaffordable for citizens.
The latter say that costs have increased significantly, while the markets seem almost empty.
Synchronize citizens
But if you compare the wholesale prices of domestic products and the prices at market stalls, in some products there is a significant difference, which means that from the farmer to the consumer, the price increases significantly.
However, prices vary by area, with central and more elite areas being more expensive than areas further from the centre. While prices in retail markets are reflecting this, prices in neighbourhood markets are also reflecting an increase. Off-camera, traders say prices have risen significantly and their costs have increased.
